Grind, London BridgeIf you’re looking for atmosphere and a hangover cure on a Sunday morning then this is the place to go. Fresh juices, strong coffee, and overflowing avocado on toast. With pancakes, breakfast burrito’s and the most amazing cheesy, chorizo croquettes, there will always be something you fancy (and if you’re like me, you will order two breakfasts). Just make sure you book a table, otherwise you’re looking at a very long wait!
Greenhouse, DeptfordIf you’re in South East London then this is the place you need to go. Right on my doorstep you can find delicious coffee, fresh smoothies (this one was apple, kale, avocado & ginger) and a huge variety of breakfast/lunch options. If you’re looking for healthier dishes then this is heaven. There are loads of vegetarian and vegan choices, as well as meat and fish, ranging from salads and sandwiches, to full breakfasts as above (which still come with a perfectly dressed salad, Turkish style potatoes and creamy scrambled eggs). Greenhouse is excellent value for money and the portions are huge – if you’re in the Greenwich area, do not miss out on coming here!
Farm Girl Cafe, Sweaty Betty No.1 CarnabyFarm Girl, the extremely popular health cafe, has now opened upstairs in the new Sweaty Betty on Carnaby Street and it is better than ever before. With the build your own salad bowl option (Subway style but think more edamame, quinoa and kale) as well as smoothie bowls, granola and endless choices of eggs on sourdough, it is the perfect place to catch up with a friend over a matcha latte or peppermint tea. I had a salad of lettuce, spinach, quinoa, avocado, tomatoes, chicken and walnuts in the most delicious pesto dressing. Farm Girl is not the cheapest place to eat but you do get giant portions so you will leave full of food and full of health. And when you can shop Sweaty Betty too, what could be better…
Dalloway TerraceNow, I haven’t been to Dalloway Terrace (located near Tottenham Court Road) in about a year but I am due to go back in a couple of weeks and it is simply because they do the best French Toast with bacon and maple syrup that I have ever had. And that is something worth going back for. Oh, and the decor is absolutely stunning.
Dirty Bones, SohoIf you’re a meat lover looking for something a little bit naughty, then you have to try Dirty Bones. Short rib on crumpets with oozing yolk and hollandaise; is there much better? Or if you’re feeling really hungry and up to the challenge then there’s always the beef burger that’s loaded with Mac n cheese..
I hope that this post has helped you discover some new brunch places and I’m sure I will be back soon with more to try. Happy brunching! xoxo
